Minutes of the Meeting
The following members of the Supernumerary Committee (the “Committee”) of the San Francisco Opera (the “Opera”) were present for all or parts of the meeting:

Also present at the invitation of the Committee was Carrie Murphy.
Mike Harvey served as Chairman of the meeting and Priscilla Lore served as Secretary.
Mike
called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Minutes of the September 29, 2003, meeting were read and approved. The
Financial Report was accepted.
Income
comprised $580 receipts for the Super Party and $846 from the Bake Sale on
October 26, 2003; expenses comprised $165.39 to Andrew for opening night candy
and printing, $500 to Fort Mason for the deposit on the Super Party space, and
$126 to Charlie Lichtman for opening night candy. Our balance is $2488.47 as of
October 27, 2003.
Super
Party 2003: Paul reported on the number of respondents for the
Super Party. A discussion of deadlines for final head count for the caterer
followed. It was suggested that a reminder of the deadline for the party be
added to the Spearhead website.
Catering:
Andrew and Mimi presented two options
for caterers, with an extended discussion of comparative menus, substitutions,
and charges. A vote was taken as to which caterer to use; a majority chose All
Seasons, the caterer that was used last year.
Susan
Anderson volunteered to pick up Peet’s coffee boxes, soft drinks, water wine,
and beer.
Awards:
It was agreed that Kathleen Edwards
be honored at the party for her support of the supers and because this will be
her last season.
Andrew
reported that John Gianonis would do the Hammy award figures again this year.
Andrew has also spoken with Sally Jo LaRue and Stephanie Salter for their
customary contributions to the party.
Décor:
Laurel Wintzler had suggested potted
plants for the tables, with a raffle of the plants at the end of the party. A
discussion of the cost of flowers and other decorations ensued.
Wendy
Cook was reported to be checking on permits for fire and liquor licensing.
Skit:
The super skit is under development
by Charlie Lichtman who is also looking for thespians to participate.
Photo
Op Proposal: A proposal was received
from Mark Burstein regarding photo ops with principals. The proposal was
discussed and generally considered a good idea. Andrew nominated Mark as the
first person to be in charge of arranging the photo shoots. Then followed a
discussion of the photography policy as well as logistical problems with Mark’s
proposal. Mike Harvey suggested that he would discuss this with Mark.
Other:
Susan announced that the page, Paul, who pulls back the
curtain for bows and escorts the conductor to the pit entrance, has had a
stroke and suggested that the Supers send him a card. Priscilla volunteered to find
the article from the Chronicle that featured the SF Opera pages.
The
meeting was adjourned at 7:30.
The
next meeting will be November 17, 2003, at 6:30 pm in the 4th floor
conference room of the Opera House.
