Absent from the meeting was Mike Harvey. Also present was Carrie Murphy. Mimi Timberlake served as Chair and Priscilla Lore served as Secretary.
Mimi
called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Minutes of the January 7, 2003, meeting were read and approved. The Financial
Report was accepted.
Income
total was $707.50 ($523 from the Bake Sale $20 from sale of totes, $150 deposit
refund from Fort Mason, and $14.50 postage for hard copy Spearhead News);
expenses were $121.26 (for the rolling cart in memory of Susan Mead; $28 for
plaque engraving; and $17.50 for La Bohme candies). Our balance is $797.52 as
of March 2, 2004.
Super
Party: Paul discussed the work he did
for Fort Mason and the possibility of some return favor from them, which we
might be able to apply to the Super Party arrangements for this year. We
discussed possible dates for the 2004 party (12/4 and 12/12). Paul explained
the parking situation at Fort Mason (they will start charging for parking).
Bake
Sale: It was decided to hold a Bake
Sale at the June 13 La Bohme matine. Susan noted that pricing had been an
issue at the previous bake sales and the matter needs to be addressed. Also, it
was necessary to do an inventory to stock up for the bake sale.
Garage
Sale: Andrew reported that Charlie
Lichtman would host another garage sale at his home on April 24. He called for
donations, excluding books and clothes. Charlie wants to do pricing the day
before, so Andrew asked for volunteers. Also discussed was the possibility of
posting an announcement on Craigslist or in the Pink section of the Chronicle.
Election
of New Members: It was decided that the notice asking
for nominees for the Super Committee be circulated in June with the election in
July. SF Opera pays for postage for mailing the ballots. Also discussed was the
possibility of voting electronically; it was suggested that Mike Harvey or Mark
Burstein might be able to figure out a way to ensure anonymity for electronic
voters. Additional issues raised
were changing the eligibility rules for both running and voting.
Super
Database: Carrie reported on the
recently completed database of all current supers, thanks to the efforts of her
intern. Carrie also announced the super requirements to date for the fall
season.
Opening
Night Candies: Irene reported on
prices for Sees lollipops in consideration of reducing the cost of opening
night candies for supers.
The
meeting was adjourned at 7:20.
The
next meeting will be April 19, 2004, at 6:30 pm in the 4th floor
conference room of the Opera House. Paul will act as chair and Priscilla will
be secretary.
