Carrie Murphy was not present again; Committee members Mike Harvey, Paul Szczesiul, and Sally Warren were not present. In Sallys absence, Rob served as Chair, and Priscilla served as Secretary.
Rob
called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
The
minutes of the April 25, 2005, meeting were read and approved.
Susan presented the Financial Report; payments totaling $164.49 and a deposit of $804.50 from the garage sale bring our balance up to $1,895.57.
Old Business
Garage
sale: Rob reported how fun and successful the garage sale
was, and suggested that we thank Charlie Lichtman in some way for providing the
setting and storing and disposing of the leftover items. Kimberly and Susan discussed
alternative ways to handle items not sold.
Mike
requested through Rob that the next meeting be scheduled for a Wednesday to
accommodate his and Pauls rehearsal and performance schedule.
Super
party: Susan provided an update on party developments. The
venue and the caterer are set. She mentioned that a new chair of the committee
for the party be decided after the new committee is elected. She also mentioned
the possibility of having a chocolate fountain at the party and would talk to
the caterers about that.
Opening
Night Chocolates: Kimberly showed samples of chocolates that she had
gathered for the supers in The Pearlfishers.
Rob
reminded the committee of Bruce McNaughtons visit in June and the lunch(es)
organized with him.
Thank
yous: Rob wanted to find a way to thank several key people
who will not be on the committee or who are not now on the committee for their
contributions to the smooth running of super events and communications. In particular, he noted Andrew and Mike
for their work on the website, which is the lifeline of the super community.
Susan mentioned the continuing contributions of Joan Imbeau, Charlie, and
Traude Albert who brings items for every bake sale and works at every event.
New
dog: The new dog announced at this months meeting is
Mikes Zulu.
Bake
Sales: Susan brought up the June 19 bake sale and a
discussion ensued about having Russian-themed food as a nod to Queen of
Spades. She also mentioned that
some people dont read the online Spearhead News. She also suggested that
someone send an e-mail reminder to supers to look at the website for election
procedures, and asked the Committee whether we should ask Mike to do this.
Other members concurred.
Kimberly
brought up the Opera in the Gardens event on May 29 and suggested that supers
be in costume and makeup at that event.
She volunteered to speak with Garrett in the Costume Department about
that. She also felt that we should push for supers to be in costume for special
opera events.
Ballots
from the election will be counted at the next Committee meeting.
The
meeting was adjourned at 7:10.
The
next meeting will be June 22, 2005, at 6:30 pm in the 4th floor
conference room of the Opera House. Sally will act as chair.
