Susan Anderson served as Chairman of the meeting and Priscilla Lore served as Secretary.
Susan
called the meeting to order at 6:37 pm.
Minutes of the August 25 and July 21, 2003, meetings were read and approved.
The Financial Report was accepted.
Income
was moderate ($10 from T. Taffel to place a classified ad in the Spearhead and a whopping $532 from the Bake Sale on September
28, 2003) and expenses were modest ($103.25 to Charlie Lichtman for opening
night candies and $25.67 to Mike Harvey for Bake Sale). Our balance is
$1,853.86 as if September 29. Of that amount, Andrew reported that we would be
paying a $450 deposit for the Fort Mason venue for the Super Party.
Fundraising
Backstage Tour: Irene and Paul
reported on the Opera Guilds docent-led tour they took and concluded that we
would be hard pressed to top it, especially at the docents $5 charge. Then followed a discussion of options
to the tour; it was suggested that because the Guild does not lead tours during
the summer we might reschedule our backstage tour for that time. It was
ultimately agreed that we table our tour plans until a later meeting. It was
also suggested that we might offer to sell leftover inventory from the Opera
Shop.
In
addition to the tours, Susan noted that it would be a good idea to coordinate
our Bake Sales with the Guild so that they do not bring food on our Bake Sale
days. A request was made for someone to volunteer to organize the Bake Sales.
Bake
Sales: The next (and last of the
season) bake sale is scheduled for November 16.
Super
Party 2003: Andrew reported on the catering and room arrangements for
the party. He noted Wendy Cooks contribution to the planning and her success
in negotiating excellent terms for the Fort Mason venue; we are extremely
grateful to her, which we hope to express in a pair of comp tickets.
After
a discussion of catering options and Wendys suggestions, Mimi volunteered to
find out from the caterers (All Seasons, whom we used last year) their menu and
cut-off date for orders. It was
also decided that we would charge $10 per super and $15 per nonsuper guest for
prepaid reservations ($20 at the door charge).
It
was also decided that whoever was available on October 20 to meet in the
canteen to stuff envelopes with the party invitations. We also discussed a
postcard mailer as a reminder.
Parking:
Susan reported that she had been approached by a super about
whether the Opera administration would provide us with parking permits or the
privilege of parking in the Opera employee lot. She was informed that no super
may park in Opera employee parking lots nor would any super receive a parking
permit to do so and to pass this information on to the super who had inquired.
The
meeting was adjourned at 7:30ish.
The
next meeting will be October 27, 2003, at 6:30 pm in the 4th floor
conference room of the Opera House. Mimi will act as chair.
