Changes
Underway for Supers at SFO
January 2006
Effective immediately, Carrie Murphy will no longer
be San Francisco Opera’s
Super Coordinator. That responsibility will be incorporated into the
Production Department, and will be overseen by Production Coordinator April
Busch.
It is not yet clear whether April will perform the duties of Super Captain
or whether those duties would be handled in another way, such as a seasonal
(April-December) position being created for that purpose. Carrie will continue
as Assistant to the Director of Music and Artistic Administration.
David Gockley officially took over as General Director
on January 1 and no time was wasted in introducing a bold new look for
the Company. Gockley
has already unveiled a new visual identity, including a new logo, a new
glamorous look for printed material, and a major redesign of the Opera’s website.
He has also made two key appointments to his organization. Shane
Gasbarra,
hired last season as Artistic Administrator, has been appointed Director
of Music and Artistic Administration. Drew Landmesser, currently Production
and Technical Director for Chicago Lyric Opera will assume the position
of Production Director.
Further details are available in Dave Wiegand’s
column in the Chronicle and
here in
the San Francisco Classical Voice News.
The Super Committee will be working with April Busch to assure the involvement
of our dedicated Super Corps. Stay tuned for information as the organization
continues to evolve.
